Questions, answered

The things people most often ask us.

Quick, plain-language answers — for anyone wondering whether therapy, coaching or a workplace EAP is right for them.

How do I find a good therapist in Nairobi?

Look for licensed counsellors or psychologists registered with the Kenya Counsellors and Psychologists Association (KCPA) or the Kenya Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (KAMFT). Anchor Relationship Network has been practicing in Nairobi since 2014 with a team of licensed therapists, ICF-accredited coaches and senior consultants based at Anchor House, Kigwa Lane, Ridgeways. We offer a free 20-minute discovery call so you can find the right match before committing.

How much does therapy cost in Kenya?

Individual therapy in Nairobi typically ranges from KES 3,000 to 7,500 per 50-minute session, with premium consultants charging KES 8,000–15,000. Anchor offers individual, couples and family therapy in this range, and runs an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) so employees of partner organizations can access confidential counselling at no personal cost.

What is anonymous therapy and is it really anonymous?

Anonymous therapy lets you work with a licensed therapist without sharing your full name or paper records. At Anchor we provide online video, voice-only or text-based sessions with no identifying records stored — payment is on phone-side via M-Pesa, and your therapist knows you only by a chosen name. It is intended for people who want professional support without the social or workplace risk of being identified.

When should you consider marriage counselling?

The best time is before you reach a crisis — when communication is starting to feel hard, distance is growing, or after any significant event (loss, betrayal, big life transition). Couples who come in early typically need fewer sessions and recover faster. Anchor runs Marriage Built to Last and Healing Beyond Betrayal — both clinically structured programs led by qualified therapists.

What is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and does my company need one?

An EAP is a confidential workplace wellness program that gives employees access to counselling, coaching and crisis support, paid for by the employer. Companies use it to reduce absenteeism, support staff through life events, and demonstrate care. Anchor designs custom EAPs across East Africa, including 24/7 hotline support, leadership labs, manager training, and quarterly reporting that protects employee anonymity.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. Anchor therapists meet clients in person at Anchor House in Ridgeways, Nairobi, by video, or by voice-only call. Online sessions are fully confidential and use HIPAA-grade video. Many clients across East Africa work with us online and have never set foot in our office.

How do I take a wellness check?

Visit https://anchor.co.ke/wellness-check/ for a free two-minute self-reflection across four dimensions — mind, body, relationships and purpose. You will receive a private branded PDF report with a recommended next step, and you can choose whether to share the result with our team or simply keep it for yourself.
